Canadian media site Canoe.ca has a good article posted on the subject of sex & the use of modern medicine to help improve low sex drive. Are we abusing medicine to combat nature? Is it necessary for parents to have to explain to their children what Viagra is because they just saw the 3rd commercial for it on T.V? BittenLip Canada would love to hear your comments.

Women around the world are increasingly suffering from low sex drive, and many often feel guilty about it. But with pharmacies rushing to market new drugs to help fix the problem, some groups are concerned about the over-medicalization of sex.

A 2008 study from the journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology found that nearly half of all women suffer from one sexual disorder or another. A more recent study from the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health found that nearly one in ten women report low sexual desire and experience emotional distress because of it.

We were browsing around the web this morning and we stumbled upon this thought provoking article. Here’s an excerpt from the full article which can be found at The Globe & Mail.

Women who feel negatively about female genitalia find it harder to have an orgasm and are less likely to get regular gynecological exams, says a new study from Indiana University.

They are also often more critical of their own genitals – and other women’s – than men are, according to the study, published in the current issue of the International Journal of Sexual Health.
